Every country has many kinds of restaurant. Korea is not exceptional. There are many chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indian restaurants in Korea. Especially, I like Japanese food very much. This time, I will show the typical Japanese course food in one restaurant of Korea. Literally, enjoying Japanese course food in Korea. I will let you know the price and taste from my side.

 

I visited one Japanese restaurant near my house. I am the regular of this restaurant. They have many good menus with reasonable price. This time, I ate lunch course of Japanese food which has many kinds of food at once, appetizers, main dishes, etc.

 

This is the menu of this restaurant. You can see many kinds of food, main dish, side dish. Most of them are sushi & sashimi. This time, I ordered sashimi course, 15,000 won(12 USD) for lunch. If you have this one for dinner, its price is 18,000 won (15 USD). The prices is different when you have it.

 

I am not sure if people can eat with cheaper price for lunch. But this system is very common in Korea. Not all the restaurants do this but many do this. That is why I prefer having meals for lunch in the restaurant. We call this lunch special. Many restaurants have this system.

 

At first, they served three appetizers. There are vegetable salad, nacho & Korean style spicy salad with abductor mucsle. These are very good for appetite. I really enjoyed nacho with salsa sauce and the other 2 appetizers. Everything tasted good.

 

In this course, they serve assorted seafoods such as sea squirt, conch, octopus, oyster, etc. There are flat fish fin and tuna sashimi, too. Actually, this is not the main dish. However, they serve many good things for sashimi course. 

 

I live in Daegu city in South Korea. There is no ocean near Daegu. Daegu city is surrounded by mountains. In order to see the ocean, we have to drive almost 2 hours to the east. Nonetheless, We can have very fresh seafoods like this. These are mostly raw or half cooked. Still very fresh and delicious as if they just caught them in the ocean a while ago.

 

This is the main dish which has many assorted sashimi and sushi. There are 5 pieces of sushi and 3 kinds of sashimi. Still very fresh and colorful. I like this kind of colorful setting and fresh seafoods. 2 or 3 three times a month, I visit sushi or sashimi restaurant and enjoy them. 

 

 

In Korea, people eat many fish but mostly, they enjoy eating flat fish, sea bream, salmon. These are the most popular fish that Korean people enjoy. Flat fish and sea bream are thick and I like their textures and enjoy chewing them, too. As a matter of fact, sashimi itself doesn't taste strong but fresh and refreshing. 

 

 

For more enjoying sashimi, there is a sauce like soybean sauce. We usually put a little bit of wasabi in it and dip sashimi in it. For doing this, sashimi has a little strong taste from wasabi and a little salty and umami form saybean sauce. As all tastes are harmonized, I can enjoy the sashimi much better.

 

 

In this course, udong and fries are included. Generally udong goes together with sashimi or sushi. We call this mini udong, not in the big bowl but small bowl. I enjoyed it very much while eating sashimi and sushi. For the last, fries were served. They fried shrimp, sweet potato. They were so crispy and delicious. Everything was fresh and good. When you visit in Korea, you should experience this kind of course, too. It will be fun and your joy while travelling in Korea.
